Applications that periodically check the latest developments
consumes about 30% of battery power when the phone is in a sleep state.
This tool is named Hush that can be used to 'switch off'
applications kept asking for updates. The result, the researchers said, the
battery could save up to 50%, reports the BBC.
Professor Charlie Hu, professor of Purdue University in West
Lafayette, Indiana, US, who led the study, said certain applications takes a
lot of power, because the application does not allow the phone back to sleep
after the update.
He explained that this application was developed at random
by not utilizing power control right at the device that uses the Android
operating system. He and his team studied no less than 2,000 units Android
smartphone before creating Hush.
The team from Purdue University now improve performance Hush
thus more efficient in identifying the functions of the mobile phone battery
wasteful.
Professor Hu said his ambition is to double the battery life
of smartphones doubled.
